Where is yours?Everyone should have some lime green crochet in their lives. Mine is attached to one of my purple socks...
Where is yours?I wrote a lovely long post out about the last of the loops and it disappeared into the vast unknown of technilogical failures. So, we have instead an edited version, more than two weeks late because I went in the huff with the vast unknown.
It was really lovely to be surrounded by all the colours again, and even though we didn't sell very many more blankets, the donation bucket was generously filled, some amazing creatures were created, some songs were sung, and generally everyone had a lovely time. Many thank to AyeAye Books, Welcome Home and the CCA for having us.
The last of the blankets have now been donated to the YWCA who make the best possible use of them. I'll do an official reveal of the money raised soon.
The L O V E that these guys share is immense. The thought of them spending the rest of their happy lives together really does make me grin from ear to ear...
I am ever so thankful to them and their families for having me there to spend the whole wonderful day with them.
Click the picture for the GIF wizardry. Big thanks to Rosie for that magic.
My lovely friend Kim asked if I could make her a little something to wear to another lovely friend's wedding (more on that later). She had a clear idea of what she was looking for and from her description I had a sleeveless version of this in my head - -
And the result - - isn't she a pretty lady?!And sometimes a bit of a goofball with her faces!
Since all the fabric was from Mandors, I entered it into their Easter Sewing Competition. You can vote by clicking LIKE here please and thank you very much!
I started following Gertie's Bombshell Dress class on Craftsy a while ago. Thought I'd give it a go, see what all the fuss was about after seeing it pop up all over everywhere with nice results.
It started with a whole load of hand stitching. I'll show more once I'm done.I went to Paris for a couple of days. I went to see my cousin Georgina, she is getting married in July and has asked me to make her wedding dress. So, this was the first visit, for measurements and design chats and fabric shopping.
I liked these ladies, spotted a few of them around Montmartre.
I finally made it to the top of the steps at the Sacre Coeur, and enjoyed the view of the city in the sunshiney haze.
We found this painted bit of wall by the canal, I have yet to email our photograph...it's pretty frightful!
We went to see a brass band play in a tiny little bar and drank mojitos.
We went for a wander around the grounds at Versailles. I liked how square all the trees were, even with no leaves on the branches. And then all of a sudden it was time to come home again. I do get to go back again, with a bit of a dress I hope...we shall see!
I went all the way to Findhorn with some friends. We played a lot of HORSE, a little bit of YELLOW CAR. We felt small under the big skys. We drank milkshakes, and wine, we drank wine on the beach and collected sticks. Songs were sung, stories were told, secrets were shared. We jumped from sand dunes and ran in bare feet. It was a very nice time.
Many thanks must go to Tom and Adrian and Jon and Judith for such a pleasant weekend.I went to see the Sewing Machine Orchestra at the Arches last Sunday.
It was not happy sewing machine noises, it was the sort of noises that happen when you get a pin stuck or there's dust in your bobbin or you need a decent oil. But it was very clever, and serious, and ernest and I quite enjoyed it, despite it's darkness.
Afterwards we went round to the Old Hairdressers for a drink and were thankfully told that the exhibition on upstairs was worth a look. I don't think all the work was by the same person, but the only name I spotted was for the collages.
The creatures on the floor made Fiona's toes curl up.
It has been three weeks since International Women's Day, and those three weeks have passed in the same sort of blurr that the day itself passed in. You can see some pictures here should you like. The day was a success I have been told. There were nice people there, people that put money in the donation tin, people that ate cake, people that drew and cut and stitched and stuck, people that listened to talks, and music and poetry and funny stories.
And then there were the friends, who did all of the above, but also made sure I ate, and drank enough water. Friends that suggested I have a sit and draw for a bit when I couldnt get my words out in a straight line. Friends that drilled collections of tiny little holes for stringing words together. Friends that baked and baked and baked yummy vegan goodies even though they had a week jammed full of rehearsals for a show. Friends that overcame their fears because I needed their help. Friends with glasses of red wine.
Friends that came to support me first and the day second. That sort of thing needs something bigger than just THANK YOU. I've still to work out how to do that.
The above was a present from Tom. He wrote this on the day, of the day, for the day. He's pretty clever really. You should go read some of his other collections of words.
You should come along and say hello...
